When King George V of England died and his eldest son (Guy Pearce) abdicated, the duty fell to Prince Albert (Colin Firth) to become king George VI. He was not prepared for the responsibility since he had suffered from a speech impediment that caused him to stammer and was thus unable to successfully give speeches. After numerous attempts at therapy, he ended up with an unlicensed specialist (Geoffrey Rush) who was convinced he could help him. Also with Helena Bonham Carter, Timothy Spall, Michael Gambon, Jennifer Ehle and Sir Derek Jacobi. Directed by Tom Hooper. [1:51 . . .
