Based on a true story: A struggling precious metals dealer (Matthew McConaughey) and a geologist (Edgar Ramirez) travel to Indonesia in search of a lucrative gold mine. SEX/NUDITY 6 - A woman wearing a tight dress (revealing cleavage) goes to a hotel and finds a man wearing briefs and a short robe on a bed (we see his bare abdomen and bare chest); he lies on top of her and they kiss and the camera pans to the window at night where we see a faint reflection of the woman with her knees bent and the man still wearing briefs, thrusting as the scene ends. A man and a woman are nude in a hot tub and we see the tops of her breasts and the buttocks of both people briefly; she kisses him and they are interrupted by another man.
► A man is shown fully nude from the back (bare back and buttocks are seen). A man appears in several scenes clad only in boxers, briefs, or knee-shorts (we see his abdomen and a partial buttock is shown in one scene). A man gets out of bed wearing only briefs and we see his bare chest and abdomen. A woman wears tight dresses with deeply cut necklines that reveal cleavage. A woman wears a sequined bikini that reveals cleavage, abdomen, and bare thighs. Eight women in a swimming pool wear bikinis that reveal cleavage and abdomens. Three men in a pool are bare-chested. Men wear knee-length shorts and a few are shirtless.
► A man and a woman kiss briefly in three scenes and embrace in two scenes. A clothed man and woman lie in bed, she reaches for his groin, but he leaves for work. A man and a woman kiss and lie down in a field (the scene ends). Two men embrace in excitement, one man wearing threadbare underwear briefs and we see the outline of his buttocks.
► A woman seductively flirts with a man at work, tossing her hair, swaying, standing close, and smiling; another man sees this and walks away angrily. A woman at a table leans close to a man, rubs her bare foot over his leg under the table, and smiles; the man's fiancée sees this and storms off angrily. A man and a woman each tells the other, "I love you."
VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - We hear that a man is pushed out of a helicopter (we do not see this); the camera cuts to a body lying face up on the ground (no injury is visible) with a plant covering the head and face and we hear that a photo was taken of the body, but do not see it.
► A man punches another man in the face. A man finds another man drunk and lying on a sidewalk (please see the Substance Use category for more details), they argue, push, and wrestle each other for several seconds.
► A man shouts at several other men, cursing and waving his hands. A man shouts at his girlfriend, also gesturing with his hands; he throws a whiskey glass at a wooden folding door she just closed behind her, shattering the glass. A man throws a wrapped package into the outside wall of a building, but it does not break. A man in his office throws an empty whiskey glass at a wall, shattering the glass. A man in a parked car grunts and pounds the steering wheel. A man driving slowly is surrounded by shouting men and women; he exits the car and they shout louder, following him into a hotel where security stops them. A soldier pointing a handgun arrests a man. Shouting FBI agents raid a company and confiscate materials. Three FBI men question a man in his hotel room until dawn, with some mild arguing. We hear that a man swindled many people out of $164 million. An investment banker loses his high-paid job because of a bad deal.
► A man in the jungle tells another man that headhunters may be in the vicinity. A man enters a cage of tropical plants, sees a tiger that growls, and slowly approaches it; the man pets the tiger on the head and it seems docile.
► A man becomes sick with malaria and nearly dies; we see him with sweaty fevers, shuddering chills, and grime covering his body. A young boy in a jungle lies in a hut under covers on a cot with his face and throat sweaty (presumably from fever). A man chews gum with dirty, crooked teeth and pushes the gum partly out of his mouth. Two men hang the head of a rocky mountain goat on a wall.

SUBSTANCE USE - A man drinks constantly throughout the film and he often drinks first thing in the morning and pouring many short glasses of whiskey all day and drinking them all, two scenes show a man drinking from a bottle while holding a lit cigarette, a man drinks in his office and during meetings as well as at home and in the jungle and at bars, a man stumbles out of a bar to make a phone call in which he slurs his words and passes out on the sidewalk, several men drink from short glasses of whiskey and beer bottles, a few women drink mixed cocktails, men and women drink champagne and wine while making toasts we cannot hear, men and women drink cocktails and short glasses of whiskey at a BBQ, two men drink cocktails at an upscale bar and a woman joins them (she chugs a double serving of whiskey and walks away as the men look surprised), men and women at a reception drink champagne and wines as well as beer from bottles, glasses of champagne are seen on tables at a banquet and one man sips from a short glass of whiskey, a man fills a large refrigerator with cases of beer, and a man pours whiskey from a glass carafe and gives it to another man who drinks it. A man chain smokes daily throughout the film even when suffering from malaria, men light and smoke cigarettes in offices as well as in a jungle and in bars and hotels and homes (we see large clouds of wafting smoke), a man smokes while driving in three scenes, we see large ashtrays full of cigarette ends in several scenes, a woman lights and smokes a cigarette at home, and a man smokes a cigarette as he buys another pack from a cigarette machine.
